After a statement from Jerry, “I would marry you tomorrow if I could,” we decided to get married. We were on a trip back to Illinois from Pennsylvania at the end of August 2003. We decided on the date when we saw a mile marker 913. Since 9/13 of the year 2003 was a Saturday, we took this as a “sign” of a perfect date for our union.We looked on the Internet for a small chapel to be wed at and found The BEALL MANSION.

On 9/13 we arrived at 3 p.m., not yet in our wedding clothes, thinking that our time to meet the pastor was at 4 p.m. To our dismay we found that we were late for our own wedding! The ceremony was scheduled at 3pm! Jerry and I rushed to our room, and we each got dressed as fast as possible.

I made my way down the beautiful staircase to meet my husband-to-be at 3:30 p.m. We had a simple ceremony just Jerry, me, Pastor Patrick, and the owners of The BEALL, Sandy and Jim, as our witnesses. All of us had tears in our eyes, as Jerry and I said our vows. It was so romantic.

After the ceremony Sandy took a few pictures of my new hubby and I with our disposable digital camera. Suddenly, in walked Steven and Sarah who mentioned that they were professional photographers. They were staying the night at The BEALL, and asked us if we wanted to have our photos taken. We were ecstatic! They took beautiful shots of Jerry and I in the Mansion and on its gorgeous grounds. For their generosity, Jerry and I took Sarah and Steven out to dinner.

We have fond memories of our day of union which will last. Jerry and I have survived our first year of marriage and live happily in Riverton, Illinois.
