Our Wonderful Holiday

The years had been quite a mess,
with accidents, surgeries & stress,
So instead of the usual holiday,
Jim thought we should all get away.

The birds, the pies and the trees,
Were replaced by the sound of car keys.
We jumped in our rigs and we met,
At the best B&B we could get.

They helped us plan and suggested,
We avoid the crowds and congestion.
A day at the shops, we spent ‘til we dropped
Then we all came home and we rested.

That night the old organ hummed,
As we sang "rump-a-tum-tum".
Jim struggled to play in each key,
To avoid that old broken "B".

The next day was quite fully planned,
And we had to give Sandy a hand.
Her friend, dear Joanne,
Saved the day, bless her heart,
stayed with Op ‘til she hit slumber land!

The gardens were a wonderful change,
From the blustery day it became.
We strolled them with ease,
Enjoying sights and the scenes.
From poisonous frogs
to ferns on the logs,
There wasn't a sight left unseen.

Then it was time for the Lemp,
For days this is what we had dreamt.
The meal and the show,
It was funny you know,
And worth every penny we spent.

Now the mansion I have yet to praise,
I could live there for days upon days.
The beds left us rested,
The baths we all tested,
And the robes . . . (one was purchased away)!

The staff, did I mention them yet?
Two greater girls you could never get!
They cooked and they cleaned and buffed chrome,
Just like we were staying in their home.

But far and above the theater venue
Was the Beall's most gourmet menu.
Something pleasing for every taste,
And nary a morsel went to waste.

Jim's always hungry, that is for cert,
So they scurried and hurried and made a dessert.
Of course the rest of us chowed it all down,
Swearing not to eat again until the sun had gone down.

There's an end to this tale that makes it worthwhile,
We signed up for next year, wearing a smile.
We'll see you again friends, for stress you're the cure
The BEALL MANSION in Alton is the best, that's for sure!
